Labor Day Monday
Wandering around, looking for something unusual for me.  Thinking Williamsburg will have a different variety than Greenpoint.  Granted, it would be Hipsterville, couples in their 20's, at that post-coitus time of the morning, where my fellow diners would be more likely to smell heavily of perfume or aftershave rather than a fresh shower.  Especially on a holiday morning. (I wasn't mistaken)
And maybe there will be a nice place on Franklin/Kent street that will have seating that takes advantage of the river breeze.  If there is, it was closed. I got as far as Egg, and Yelp indicated that I was at the edge of Breakfast Restaurants Open Now. Plus I was getting bogged down by humidity & hunger.  (Passed by Egg bc there was a line of 5 families and kids waiting to get in! Not me, not on Labor Day!)

Outdoor (on street) Seating
By 11:30, half the tables were in the sun and it was brutal.
I took a seat all the way in the back of the split-level seating area, by the time I got there, I was hoping for AC rather than outside seating.  Especially with the humidity; even for a place that had its garage door storefront open, it was quite cool inside.  Off to the side upstairs was a mini wine room with windows to show off their storage.  Saw a manager-type duck into the room like he was something out of Alice's Wonderland.

Brunch Deal
The offer comes with alcohol (Mimosa, Bloody or Beer, plus soda/coffee/tea)
I had Mimosa and 3 coffee refills (no hesitation about that, but coffee needed 2 sugars, and waitress kept forgetting milk.  i.e. Each refill took LONG, even though there seemed to be an urn that wasn't in use.  If you don't have it for the breakfast rush, when do you use it?
Water was served NON-Brooklyn style; the waitress was attentive enough for me and her other tables.  She was very nice, she recommended the fries over salad (but then again, what server doesn't?)

Edison Light Bulbs
As required by the Brooklyn Hipster Restaurant Code.
Some are even housed in huge glass jars.

Typical Tavern Grub
(i.e. NOT a place to work your way through the menu)
Brunch was typical Fare
Variety of Benedicts
Sandwiches
Eggs/Bfast-y type dishes
Salmon Benedict or on a Bagel $3 extra
Eggs w/ Strip Steak $3 extra
(If you charge extra for the good items, what's the point of the brunch "deal"?)

My Meal:
I ordered the Breakfast Burger (which was the most unusual, plus the MOST protein one could get for the buck).  I love to get them Medium Rare & on the Illegal Side.  It came dripping and pink, just the way I like it.
On "toasted" English muffin (Lightly toasted, if at all), cheddar & bacon, plus fries
(Save your calories!! They were large, slightly soggy with oil, heavily salted-not that that is a bad thing)
The calorie count was off the charts.
As a habit, I try to only eat half and take the rest home.
Readers, I ate it all.

Music:
That "I could never be a/your woman", cool song from the 90's, which I assume was done by a gay man-or I'm hearing the lyrics wrong.
Lots of unidentifiable guitar-n-drums-with-boys-yelling-about-angst-songs.
That "Ah-Ah-Ah" Song, which I realized was Beachhouse the second time I heard it, about 90 minutes later (??)

Bathroom:
Downstairs
Chalkboard walls to discourage & encourage graffiti
Wash basin outside (tiny sink inside too)
"Employees must wash hands.  You probably should too, just sayin' "
Fairly clean, but cramped.

Conversation Overheard:
Party of 5:
Lapsing into an unidentified language, discussing a city in Africa, a reporter, maybe?
Boy & Girl:
My friend dropped off the face of the earth
I can understand if you get a relationship
Calls me the other day, out of the blue
He had joined Landmark.
"When we were out together, I was stealing his thunder"
"I was so happy to hear that he had learned things about himself, that I was in the mood to go out last night"

Unremarkable :(
I LOST original notes & Photos, bc I forgot to hit "Save" on the app for the iPad (sometimes on the iPhone, it will stay up.  Or not) But it's not a place that is SO remarkable that you need a photo.  Picture typical Tavern.  On the plus side, there IS a skylight.  And they served the burger in a tin tray and the fries in a mini metal barrel. But I was once impressed by a donut shop serving food on a lacquered slice of wood.  And if these are the most distinctive bits of detail I can offer, go somewhere else.
